Minerva Cuevas

Minerva Cuevas returns to San Francisco to continue research and production for her project, Ecology of Fire , an investigation into the social and characteristic conditions of the city that have made certain fires possible. While in residence, she will realize a new research-based public engagement project consisting in part a series of bookmarks for the SF Public Library. In conjunction with SFMOMA’s Public Knowledge program–a recent initiative promoting dialogue about the cultural impact of urban change Cuevas generates projects in response to politically-charged contexts by provocatively infiltrating public space, whether through billboards, mural paintings, or hacking public utilities to provide discounted or free services.
