The Venice Biennale: Ideological Guide 2013
Ideological Guide to the Venice Biennale 2013, a project by artist Jonas Staal. The Ideological Guide to the Venice Biennale is a free iPhone and Android app that provides insight in the political, economic, and general ideological infrastructure of the 2013 Venice Biennale. The Ideological Guide needs no internet for its GPS and guide functions and is updated throughout the Biennale. The Ideological Guide offers critical reflections by prominent artists, curators and theoreticians that will help the user to explore the ideological framework of each of the national pavilions present at the Venice Biennale: additional data will give further insight in the political background, selection procedure and financing of each of the exhibitions on display. The Ideological Guide offers the possibility to visit the different national pavilions based on the countries’ geopolitical alliances: the user can navigate routes based on members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), those which acknowledge the International Criminal Court (ICC), and member countries of the Group of Eight (G8), the League of Arab States e.a.
