Jason Fulford's Mushroom Machine

A man on an airplane told me that the desert sand is full of seeds. “They can lay dormant for decades,” he said, “and then suddenly after a rainstorm green shoots appear.” A new commission of the Kadist Art Foundation, Jason Fulford populated Kadist with images from his mushroom collection, and transformed the storage area into a image production “machine”. Visitors were invited to bring an object (no larger than 10 inches in any dimension) to deposit into the machine. The object was returned to the visitor in the form of an image souvenir, a copy of which is stored in Fulford’s box held in the Kadist Collection, to reappear at some point in the future. Special thanks to Tamara Shopsin, Helena Keeffe and Ian Dolton-Thorton
