Beyond the White Walls by Jeremy Deller
Commissioned by the Hayward Gallery for his 2012 exhibition Joy in People , Deller’s video Beyond the White Walls surveys some of the artist’s numerous projects since 1990 that have been inserted, staged, installed, or enacted outside the gallery or museum, with a few exceptions. Mixing informal gestures, collaborative projects, with institutional endeavors, Beyond the White Walls is narrated by the artist, revealing a keen sense of humor and his long-standing interest in social participation.
