Taus Makhacheva
In this interview shot on location at the 6th Moscow Biennale, Taus Makhacheva discusses the role of the body as a supporting structure for the art world, the role of ‘the masculine’ in contemporary Dagestani society as well as other tensions that run through her works. She discusses her 3-channel video installation Let Me be Part of a Narrative, as well as her durational performance conducted daily as part of the biennale, where circus-trained acrobats display a selection of paintings from the Dagestan Museum of Fine Art by building a human pyramid. Makhacheva is based in Moscow and Makhachkala.
