Camille Lévy Sarfati

Camille Lévy Sarfati will be in residency at KADIST Paris in April 2023. Camille Lévy Sarfati has been the artistic director of 32bis, a center for contemporary art in Tunis, Tunisia, since 2019. A graduate of Sciences Po Paris, she has focused on issues of ethnonationalism and minority. Based in Tunisia since 2018, she is directing a documentary on the construction of conflicting memories related to the Jewish history of the country. She is also the author of various texts and articles, published notably in the Revue des Mondes musulmans et de la Méditerranée , among other media. Her curatorial practice is particularly interested in emerging Tunisian and North-African creation, for which she has imagined and co-curated various training and mentorship programs. In 2022, she has, inter alia, curated the exhibition Can We Sing Together Again, Old Friend? , a solo show by South-African artist Thania Petersen, and Injurier le Soleil , a collective exhibition at 32bis. During her residency, Camille Lévy Sarfati will offer a perspective into emerging contemporary artistic Tunisian practices, through an evening of encounters, concert, and screenings. This evening at KADIST will be the first step of a collaboration focusing on video practices, and a second chapter will take place at 32bis in Tunis in the spring.
