Jorge González


Jorge González joins KADIST San Francisco for a short residency to expand on his long-term research on Indigenous craft techniques and knowledge specific to the Carribean. Meeting with local practitioners and visiting plant nurseries, González will receive an introduction to the craft knowledge of the Native American communities of California and will explore the social and material history of local plants. Jorge González’s residency culminates with Cuando el maguey cae en un río (When the Maguey falls in a river) , an afternoon of weaving, readings, and thinking about plant-based knowledge and workers’ rights in collaboration with artist, Monica Rodriguez at KADIST San Francisco on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
