Tbilisi 7 festival

For the first time ever, the jury decided to equally award all four candidates and invite them to participate in the Tbilisi 7 festival* organized by Kunsthalle Zürich in Tbilisi, Georgia, in early September 2016, namely Geraldine Beck & Miriam Laura Leonardi , Marc Hunziker & Chantal Kaufmann & Rafal Skoczek (UP STATE) , Leila Peacock , and Ramaya Tegegne . All of the four proposals convinced the jury by their quality and their crucial capacity for collaboration on which the Tbilisi 7 festival builds its program. Therefore, in an unanimous decision, the jury (listed below) together with Emilie Villez from Kadist Art Foundation decided to award all of the submitted projects equally. Following this decision, Kunsthalle Zürich committed itself to cover all awardees costs for travel and accomodation so that the Kadist – Kunsthalle Zürich Production Award can be fully invested into the artists projects in Tbilisi. Kunsthalle Zurich, as one of the main venues for Manifesta 11, The European Biennial of Contemporary Art, will host the exhibition What People Do For Money: Some Joint Ventures in our exhibition spaces (June 9 – September 18). During that time, the program will move Extra Muros , out of the walls at Löwenbräu and into a number of other intriguing locations. A piece of land at the outskirts of Tbilisi in Georgia – where Kunsthalle Zürich director Daniel Baumann has been presenting experimental events with local and international artists over the past years – will be one of those off-site venues.
